Four Fundamental Principles of Becoming a Charismatic Leader:

An eight-year-old girl returned home from school crying. Seeing her daughter crying, Nadia, leaving aside the task in her hands ran towards the door. She had a violin in her hand & she was shedding tears as well. Having seen her daughter crying, mother hugged her & asked for the reason. She was expecting a casual answer like quarrel with a friend or scolding of teacher etc., but she was shocked by the answer. Her daughter told her that from tomorrow onwards, the playing violin would not be taught in her school, and she wanted to learn to play the violin anyhow.

The mother felt sorry as she heard about this. Nadia herself was a musician, and she knew that her daughter would also become a musician in the future. Her daughter was fond of the violin since childhood. While playing the violin, she used to forget herself and become one with music.

The mother got angry about this decision of the school management, and she said to her daughter, "Okay, tomorrow I will come to school and talk to your teacher." The mother started thinking, "How can the school be so heartless? If my daughter likes to play the violin, what is the problem in teaching her the violin?"

The next day, Nadia reached school. She talked with the music teacher regarding the decision of school management. The teacher said, "We love to teach music, but the government has enforced the new law. From this academic year, the entire focus of studies will be on language, mathematics, and science." Now, Nadia got angry with the government.

She started thinking about how to solve this problem. At that time, a question arose in her mind. The question was; “can we find a way out by which children will be able to learn the music as well as can also study language, mathematics, and science simultaneously?"

As a result, she came up with an excellent, creative idea and this idea changed the method of studying altogether. She asked the teachers, "Will you be able to teach language, maths, and science with the help of music?" The teachers responded, "How will it be possible?" On this, Nadia replied, "I am a musician. I will help you with that.” Within a few days, the school started teaching language, mathematics, and science through the music. Children learned not only language, mathematics, and science but also music with that creative method.

In this way, Nadia's act has shown us that for becoming an inspiring leader and for paving a new path towards the bright future, we do not need to be in power or on a leading authority post. In fact, leadership is a mental state, and this mindset gives us a new positive and constructive approach towards looking at this world. If we develop this mindset as a leader, we could make this world better, could solve the problems constructively and can achieve our goals with greater ease.

1. Your identity as a leader in your mind:

What do you see when you close your eyes and think of your life? Close your eyes and think about this question. Don’t be in a hurry to read further.

Have you seen yourself as a common man or a leader?

Whatever you have seen in your inner-core after closing your eyes, is called self-image or self-identity. If necessary, we have to work on this self-image. If you would be able to create your self-image as a leader, then surely it would be considered as the most important step taken towards becoming a leader. As you know already, everything is created twice, first in one's mind and then in reality. We have to create our identity as a leader in our mind first. The deeper this identity is, the more we will be able to stand firm in adverse situations.

Please remember: this powerful self-image is our power, which directs our emotions & creates emotional patterns. In short, the self-image directly controls & directs our subconscious-mind, that’s why it’s very important to create a very powerful self-image.

 2. Your open-mindedness for learning new things:

Does the very thought of learning new things fill you with excitement?

To become a charismatic & inspiring leader, we need to learn some fundamental skills. We need to be filled with enthusiasm for learning and to be ready to learn something new at every moment in this exciting journey. If you feel that learning new things is a burden, learning leads to new involvement, new engagement or you feel that it is a burden, then things will get a bit complicated and difficult for you. To be a charismatic & inspiring leader, one must develop 'new thinking approach towards learning.' Generally, the process of learning ends with an educational degree. As a leader, you have to motivate yourself as well as others to learn new things.

 3. Your understanding regarding the 'life transformation' process:

Have you ever experienced any drastic positive change in your life? If ‘yes’, then what was at the root this change?

What happens when life gets transformed? How does it happen? Is there any structure in it? Does that change happen all of a sudden? Can we bring transformation systematically? If ‘no’, why not? If ‘yes’, then how? Have you ever observed your life being changed? If ‘yes’, how did this change happen?

Your understanding of life transformation process will be of utmost importance in establishing you as a charismatic & inspiring leader. Basically, you are trying to bring the change through your leadership skills, whether that change is in your behaviour or thinking, in yourself or in others, in person or in the organization. So, if you have seen yourself transforming in a positive way, if you have given a thought on it, then this understanding of the 'life transformation' process can be your biggest asset in leadership development.

In short, 'What happened when your life got transformed?' Your reflection on this question will help you to be a charismatic & inspiring leader.

4. Your Mastery in establishing relationships with people

How long does it take for you to get along with the strangers?

The lesser time you take to build a rapport with the stranger, higher are your chances of becoming a successful leader. Just this one skill of establishing a quick connection with people effortlessly will lead you to the forefront of leadership. You need to practise this skill every day. It is said about leadership that as soon as you start talking, in the first 30 seconds, you are either accepted or rejected. Because without speaking also, your body language, your movements, and your confidence say a lot. Therefore, you need to practise establishing good relations with strangers in a few moments.
